SP-POF PoF Power Splitter

The SP-POF is a PoF power splitter that combines optical signal splitting with remote power supply in one compact unit. Over PoF optical power composite cable it delivers data and 54 V DC power at the same time to ONUs, MDUs and PON optical APs that are difficult to power — in 1×4 and 1×8 models, plus 1×5 and 1×9 models with a cascade port for the next splitter. The powered outputs reach up to 1,000 m (3,280 ft) over the composite cable — the extended reach that takes powered fiber past PoE's 100 m limit.

Why SP-POF

Splitting and power, one box per floor

Integrated functionality

Simultaneous data transmission and remote power supply over optoelectronic composite cable — no separate splitter and power injector to install and wire.

High versatility

Compatible with a wide range of terminal equipment that is difficult to power: ONUs, MDUs and PON optical APs such as the uAPAX30H.

Advanced protection

Built-in voltage and current protection keeps the powered outputs stable in day-to-day operation.

Efficient performance

Low insertion loss — from ≤7.8 dB on the 1×4 to ≤10.9 dB on the 1×8 output ports — helps maintain signal integrity across the network.

Applications

Where the SP-POF works

Enterprise parks

One splitter per floor or zone powers the APs and terminals of a campus access network.

Business buildings

Serve offices floor by floor, cascading splitters up the riser on the 1×5 and 1×9 models.

Schools

Power classroom APs and ONUs where outlets are scarce or out of reach.

Homes

A compact desktop or wall-mount unit for residential ONUs that are difficult to power.

System Fit

Works with your OLT

The SP-POF takes the optical feed from the OLT — a UGrid U5 or U8, or another GPON OLT — and delivers data and remote power to ceiling-mounted ONUs or PON optical APs over PoF composite cable runs of up to 1,000 m (3,280 ft). On the 1×5 and 1×9 models, the cascade port feeds a further SP-POF. See the system on the Power over Fiber overview.

FAQ

SP-POF questions, answered

What does the SP-POF do?

The SP-POF combines optical signal splitting with remote power supply: it takes the OLT's optical feed, splits it 1×4 or 1×8, and injects 54 V DC power onto each PoF optical power composite cable, so every connected ONU, MDU or PON optical AP receives data and power on one cable — over runs of up to 1,000 m (3,280 ft).

How much power can the SP-POF deliver?

About 30 W per port, with a total power supply of ≤60 W on the 4-output models and ≤130 W on the 8-output models. The 54 V DC output is compatible with IEEE 802.3af/at powered devices.

What is the cascade port for?

On the SP-POF-1-1-4 (1×5) and SP-POF-1-1-8 (1×9) models, the cascade output port feeds a further PoF power splitter — for example the next floor up a riser — with a cascade-port insertion loss of ≤1.8 dB or ≤2.3 dB respectively.

Which connectors does the SP-POF use?

The optical interface is SC, with SC/UPC or SC/APC polish — specify when ordering to match the rest of your ODN. The powered outputs are PoF optical power composite cable ports.

How is the SP-POF installed?

The unit measures 180 × 120 × 26 mm and is desktop or wall mounted, operating from −20 °C to +45 °C. It is powered by its own AC-DC adaptor (DC 54 V / 1.11 A or 2.4 A, by model).
